Such indeed is the Blessed One, Exalted, Omniscient, |

Vijja carana-sampanno Sugato Lokavidu |

endowed with knowledge and virtue, Well - gone, Knower
of the worlds, |

Anuttaro Purisa-damma-sarathi |
|
an Incomparable Charioteer for the training of
individuals. |

Sattha Deva - manussanam |

Teacher of gods and men |

to be seen here and now; not delayed in time; |

Ehi-passiko Opanayiko |

inviting one to come and see; onward leading to (Nibbana); |
|
Paccattam veditabbo vinnuhi ti |
|
to be known by the wise, each for himself. |

Dhammam jivita pariyantam saranam gacchami |

the good way; |

Uju patipanno Bhagavato savaka sangho |

The Sangha of the Blessed One's disciples has entered on
the straight way; |
|
Naya patipanno Bhagavato savaka sangho |
|
The Sangha of the Blessed One's disciples has entered on
the true way; |
|
Samici patipanno Bhagavato savaka sangho |
|
The Sangha of the Blessed One's disciples has entered on
the proper way; |
|
Yadidam cattari purisa yugani attha purisa puggala |
|
that is to say : the Four Pairs of Men, the Eight Types
of Persons; |
|
Esa Bhagavato savaka sangho |
|
the Sangha of the Blessed One's Disciples |
|
Ahuneyyo Pahuneyyo |
|
is fit for gifts, fit for hospitality, |
|
Dakkineyyo anjali karaniyo |
|
fit for offerings, and fit for reverential salutation, |
|
Anuttaram punnak-khettam lokassa ti |
|
as the incomparable field of merit for the world. |

Sangham jivita pariyantam saranam gacchami |

All my life I go for refuge to the Brotherhood. |

REVERENCE TO TO THE THREE JEWELS |

We reverence the Buddha, and aspire to follow Him. |
|
The Buddha was born as we are born. |
|
What the Buddha overcame, we too can overcome; |
|
What the Buddha attained, we too can attain. |

We reverence the Dhamma, and aspire to follow it with
body, speech and mind, until the end. |
|
The Truth in all its aspects, the path in all its
stages, |
|
We aspire to study, practise, realise. |
|
We reverence the Sangha, and aspire to follow it: |
|
The fellowship of those who tread the way. |
|
As one by one we make our own commitment, |
|
An ever-widening circle, the Sangha grows. |
